  • 1 large egg, beaten (for dough and egg wash)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly, then mix in the grated cheese.
  2. Add sour cream and half of the beaten egg to form a soft dough. Knead lightly on a floured surface, then roll out to about 1-inch thickness.
  3. Fold the dough like a letter, turn, and roll out again. Repeat this folding and rolling process 2-3 more times to create layers.
  4. Cut out rounds with a cookie cutter, brush tops with remaining egg wash, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
