Classic Quiche Lorraine
Enjoy a taste of France with this authentic Quiche Lorraine. Featuring a rich, creamy custard filling with crispy bacon and melted Gruyère cheese, all baked in a flaky pastry crust. It's simpler to make than you think and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
- 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
- 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups half-and-half
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Press the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Sprinkle crumbled bacon and Gruyère cheese evenly over the bottom of the crust.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Carefully pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese in the pie crust.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Tips
- For a crispier crust, blind bake it for 10 minutes before adding the filling.
- Quiche reheats well; store leftovers in the fridge and warm gently in the oven or microwave.
