Classic American Meatloaf

Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (85/15 or 90/10 lean)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk (any kind)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- For the glaze: 1/2 cup ketchup, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp mustard
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, gently combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until just mixed. Do not overmix.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf on a foil-lined baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard for the glaze. Spread evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.

- For a leaner option, use ground turkey or a mix of ground beef and turkey.
